Alan White, Global Head of Emerging Transportation Platforms at Siemens Smart Infrastructure
Alan White, the head of Siemens' emerging platform Depot 360, has built his career on advancing renewable energy systems and electrification. Alan has spent two decades developing solutions that integrate electric vehicles and grid technology. Initially working on vehicle-to-grid technologies with Lawrence Berkeley Labs, Alan later co-founded eMotorworks to aggregate EV batteries for grid resource, and helped sell the company to ENEL Group, a large Italian utility. At Siemens, he focuses on electrifying commercial fleets and smart infrastructure. Siemens, the largest engineering company in Europe and a leading name in industrial automation, employs about 327,000 people with revenue exceeding $87 billion.
“Depot360” by Siemens is dedicated to helping companies electrify their commercial fleets through a combination of AI-based software platforms and network operating centers, while ensuring efficiencies in energy usage and fleet management. Through strategic acquisitions and innovations—like those seen in Depot 360—Siemens is reinforcing its role in the electrified future. Depot360 aims to mitigate the operational risks of an EV fleet and make them transparent to its customers, while lowering energy costs and boosting fleet productivity.
Looking ahead, Depot 360 plans to leverage its status as a turnkey solutions provider to make a case for the improved operational efficiency that comes from electrification. Alan can see a scenario where by 2030, electrification will be viewed as indispensable, paving the way for innovative solutions in efficiency, grid resilience, and broader application of AI in fleet management. This vision reflects Siemens' commitment to leading the market in sustainable energy solutions.
